Kodi Review

Director Durai Senthilkumar’s Kodi is Dhanush’s second release in 2016 just after his Thodari last month.  There are a few firsts to this film like Dhanush doing dual roles and his on-screen pairing with Trisha.

In Kodi, Dhanush plays an aspiring politician, a good one at that, which would kind of appear like a rare occurrence in the field. When someone, especially a politician wants to be a do-gooder, what will happen? Dhanush faces the consequences and Durai weaves his story around this knot with Trisha and others playing the integral pivots.

For Dhanush, it is not a new ground in terms of deliverance and the National Award
Happy Diwali #Leiden
winner just sashays through his role(s). He also checks-in the box for demarcation between the two roles, with vigor. As Anbu and Kodi, the actor is perfect. Trisha gets a different kind of part to play which is really meaty and one feels she could have utilized this chance in a better way. Her Rudhra is very powerful but there is some kind of link missing between the powerful dialogues mouthed by the dubbing artist and her stoic expressions.

There is also Anupama Parameswaran who is making her debut in Kodi and the cherubic girl as the egg vendor Malathy is apt. Her scenes with Dhanush in the first half are quite lively.

Santhosh Narayanan scores for the first time for Dhanush and his Ei Suzhali has an instant likeability about it. Venkatesh’s lens and Prakash Mabbu’s cuts should have been better.

What works for the film are its performance of Dhanush and most of the cast members. The first half is a little slow and the engagement factor is inconsistent there. But the director makes for this in the second half where the film takes on an important factor. There is a social issue which acts as the fulcrum for things to proceed in the second half. The political games and its wild ways are narrated well. Durai should also be lauded for not bowing down to commercial compromises to tell his story and one can perceive his sincerity in this endeavor.

Toting it up, Kodi works for its earnest writing, treatment and performances and gives the audience a decent watching experience.
A sincere attempt which could have been a little more gripping

Kaashmora Review
Long long ago, there was a king. The king had 13 mighty warriors and leading those 13 was Raj Nayak. Raj Nayak brought pride, wealth and a lot of other smaller kingdoms to his King. But like in all tales, all great things must come to an end.
This Diwali Get veg combo @Rs170 #Leiden
Shifting to the present, there's Kaashmora, a fraud who feeds on people's fear and ignorance. In this Gokul's fantasy, both worlds meet. What follows is a tale of magic, ghosts, humour and visual magnificence.

As a performer, Karthi must have surely loved the parts he has bagged in this film. The scope the story has for both his characters, Kaashmora and Raj Nayak are multi-layered and huge. The story definitely provides Karthi a huge opportunity to show his flexibility as an actor and he has evidentially done it with full heart. He brims with energy throughout the movie. His performance in the pre-interval, where he gets locked up in the palace, is one of the best moments in the film. As Kaashmora he brings a lot of laughter and as Raj Nayak, he brings the best of villainy and heroism.

With him carrying the movie almost alone, the rest of the cast has only minor parts to play. In these brief scopes, Vivek and Muruganantham score the most with their wits and expressions.

Nayanthara, despite being a proven performer,  appears for hardly 30 minutes and seem heavily under-utilised. On the other hand, that's enough time for her to woo her massive male fan base into submission. She oozes with grace and beauty.

Another noticeable plus of Kaashmora is its visual grandeur, balanced by a well-done cinematography, almost perfect visual effects, grand artwork and over the top, but vibrant and elegant costumes.
Non veg Combo @Rs200 #Leiden

But like all things that's where the positives end. While the efforts are commendable, the script is a very light hearted, easy going one, excessively depended on the dialogues and performances. The first half takes its time to shape up and the initial going of the movie, with its pure Tamil and the stereotypical cryptic verses, penned with the only intention to keep the audiences confused, doesn't set a good engaging start.

Santosh Narayanan experiments with his background scores a bit more than usual. And this time around, there are moments where you tend to enjoy the music more than the sequences and there might also be one or two moments where you might wonder if the music is really in sync with the situations or is it something that is far from our musical understanding.

Overall, Kaashmora has its moments of humour, experimentation and grandeur, but it doesn't hold us tight enough to not get distracted.

Karthi entertains, director Gokul experiments, but Kaashmora could have been more engaging

Lukng Rating- 3.10/5

Jio confirms free Internet till March 2017

Welcome Offer on Reliance Jio 4G Could Extend Till March 2017

For those who dreaded losing out on free 4G data usage on Reliance Jio from December onwards, have a reason to rejoice. Reports suggest that the company could probably extend its Jio Welcome Offer till March 2017.

let's update coimbatore - a step by lukng.com

This means that unless Reliance Jio alters its existing plan in near future, users on the network will get free 4G data up to 4GB per day, further extended till March 2017.read more
However, we’re apprehensive of making such announcements, at least till the company goes public with it. For now, such claims have only been made by analysts at Motiwal Oswal, who believe that Jio will go for the juggernaut to reach its targeted 100 million-user base.

>Mass scale free welcome offer could continue until March 2017 to attract subscriber growth towards the celebrated 100 million mark with RJio’s indicative data pricing at Rs 130-140 per gigabyte (GB)
-Motilal Oswal Report

The analysts reason for such claims is directly linked with the ongoing point of interconnectivity (POI) issue. This is forced many users to rely on their non-Jio number to make calls.
The matter was recently taken up by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), suggesting that Airtel, Vodafone and Idea pay Rs 50 crore per circle as penalty for failing to provide POIs to Jio.
Even Reliance Jio has expressed its concerns about connectivity, and said that they might have to extend the period of free service, if the situation doesn’t improve in the coming months.
The company’s division head also clarified that Reliance Jio won’t need TRAI’s permission, if they intend to extend the free offer. Even if Reliance Jio does end up extending the Welcome Offer, chances are they could find it hard to attract more users.
Their 4G speeds on their network has been gradually slowing down, in fact as per a recent TRAI report, Jio 4G is the slowest in the country.

Remo review

Remo Review by lukng.com

Remo
The film is all about an pursuing actor SK (Sivakarthikeyan) aged 27 and for him conversing with girls and falling in love is the toughest thing in the world.

but even though he tries on with his career in an audition with KS Ravikumar where he is being rejected
we can see that a love angel is chasing our hero to make him fall in love with a girl
and it happens all of a sudden the moment he sees Kavya (Keerthy Suresh).

When SK decides to propose, Kavya gets engaged to a rich doctor (Anson Paul).
Instead of feeling dumped,
SK decides to concentrate on his acting career and even
attends the audition of director KS Ravikumar's Avvai Shanmughi sequel
for which he has to don a nurse getup.this is where the director holds up the movies twist, and is siva going to get
through his love with a girl who is engaged or is he going to become an actor is the remaining movie

Sivakarthikeyan asusual holds the film with his perfect comic timing and he is being seen the film’s biggest strength.
The nurse look is being enjoyed and watched with enthu among the audience
The actor has pulled off the lady look with compassion and dedication that is being seen in the big screen
than the heroine Keerthy Suresh,Keerthy Suresh looks fresh, pretty and justifies the innocent girl role.
presents a delightfully pleasing performance, she is shown even more pleasant and beautiful compared to her past movies
but both the lady character is being justified by the main highlight of the movie
and cinematographer PC Sreeram's using his sense of lighting. and there is justice in the makeup crew which can be seen
althrough the movie special mention (Sean Foot, Nikki)
Debutant director Bakkiyaraj Kannan has given a easily predictable script and screenplay but the several comedy sequences have made the audience in theatre to feel comfortable.
the movie which runs around a love genre comprises of romantic sequences ehich has been given a glossy
visual from PC Sreeram and special mention effective score of Anirudh Ravichander has become a heart throb in many sequences.
There could have been a little more concentration in script, which could have made the audience unpredictable,
IF done Remo would have been even more enjoyable.
as usual could say the same about Saranya Ponvannan who repeats her comic,
gave the one more mom act yet again.
Top comedians Rajendran, Yogi Babu and Sathish who are present to be SK'S friends, eventhough their comedy
looks dull and not compromising for the audience. some sequences we can hear a burst out among audience which boosts up th comedy sense

The brighter elements of Remo are the music director Anirudh's bgms that revolves to be the important
aspect for the movie to be more quick and the spine cinematography by pc sreeram,
Overall, Remo is a watchable romantic comedy which is entertaining.

SUSHANT DELIVERS A MATCH-WINNING KNOCK AS DHONI

STORY:
The biopic on India’s celebrated skipper, MS Dhoni (played by Sushant Singh Rajput) is the cricketer’s ode to his well-wishers, friends and family, who stood by him at all times - in success and failure. Their immense contribution in fulfilling his dream, his faith in himself and ability to battle professional and personal setbacks, forms the story.  know more

REVIEW:
If you are a diehard fan of MS Dhoni and cricket (in that order), you are bound to love this film, which reveres its protagonist. Despite the glorification, what works is Sushant’s impeccable portrayal of a stoic Dhoni and the latter’s inspiring untold story - his journey from being a ticket collector to a renowned attacking batsman/wicket-keeper/captain.
Sushant internalises his character and becomes MSD, without heavily mimicking the cricketer. He even nails his iconic helicopter shot and restrained personality. The actor scores a winning knock. The film also boasts of a spectacular first-half, which showcases Dhoni’s initial struggle as an aspiring professional cricketer. It reminds you why sportsmen deserve the fame and money they get.

Neeraj Pandey recreates Dhoni’s Ranchi life beautifully. He keeps it authentic and relatable. This one scene shot at Kharagpur station particularly stands out. Sushant is seen trying to make his way through a sea of people. It’s him going against the tide, summing up Dhoni’s life journey as well. Supporting actors deserve a special mention as their performances tug at your heartstrings. A scene featuring Yuvraj Singh (Herry Tangri) is outstanding.

However the biopic loses its momentum in the second half with Dhoni’s love life getting undue prominence. Also, the cricketer’s questionable decisions or possible vices are mostly overlooked. His tiff with the senior players (Sehwag, Gambhir), rivalry with Yuvraj Singh, love-hate relationship with the media, team politics and criticism faced on occasions, barely find a passing reference. As a full-fledged biopic, this one-dimensional approach towards the lead character leaves you a tad discontented. But since you see the film through Dhoni’s eyes, it’s justified as one rarely sees faults in oneself.

Nonetheless, this cricket movie hits sufficient sixes making the ‘Dhoni Dhoni’ chants reverberate in the theatre.
